Johannes Meyer-Ellerhorst

Johannes Friedrich Ludwig Meyer , from March 25, 1914 Meyer-Ellerhorst, (born April 18, 1857 in Harmenhausen near Elsfleth ; † April 2, 1933 in Oldenburg ) was a German administrative lawyer and from 1918 to 1924 President of the Regional Administrative Court of Oldenburg .

biography

Meyer was the son of the farmer Friedrich Meyer. He attended high school in Verden and studied 1875-1878 jurisprudence at the University of Georg-August-University of Goettingen and Jena . In 1881 he entered the Oldenburg civil service.

Initially, he worked for a short time as an official auditor at the Westerstede and Vechta offices. Two years later Meyer was assigned to the Ministry of Finance of the Grand Duchy as an unskilled worker. After passing the second state examination, he was appointed Assessor Office 1884 and took over in 1891 as Amtshauptmann the management of the Office Butjadingen . In 1902 he became finance advisor and lecturer in the Ministry of Finance and worked primarily on questions of tax law and tax legislation. In 1904 he was promoted to the regional finance council. Meyer, who was finally given the title of Secret Chief Finance Councilor in 1910, was also a member and later chairman of the supervisory board of the Oldenburgische Landesbank . On June 1, 1918, he was appointed President of the Oldenburg Higher Administrative Court, which he headed until his retirement on March 31, 1924.

family

Meyer married Johanne geb. Ellerhorst (1855–1923), the daughter of the Official Councilor Christian Ellerhorst (* 1802) in Vechta and Maria Anna Adolphine geb. Bartel († 1892). The couple had four sons. In 1914 Meyer took the surname Ellerhorst, since his wife's family name would otherwise have died out.
