from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johannes Schönherr (born December 21, 1921 in Lichtenstein / Sa. , † April 27, 2007 ) was an original from the Ore Mountains. He became known nationwide as Hammerhans (el) .

Life

Johannes Schönherr was born as the fourth child of a working class family from Lichtenstein. He learned the trade of a weaver, which he was only able to practice for a short time because of the outbreak of World War II . He was drafted into a news unit in East Friesland as a soldier and was involved in the eastern campaign as a rider. With a leg injury, he returned home in 1946. After a brief return to his job as a weaver, he followed the call to mine uranium ore from SAG Wismut in 1948 by becoming a miner and initially working as a drill operator in Frohnau . Later he rose to the position of master drill of the derrick he operated.

He led groups of visitors through the Frohnauer Hammer in Annaberg-Buchholz for over 35 years - initially on a voluntary basis from 1953, then from April 1, 1956 as a permanent museum assistant - and explained how this former hammer mill worked . His optimistic, folk manner, with which he was highly motivated to support the museum display, soon made him an original. A felt hat with numerous badges, a leather apron and an accordion became his external trademarks. Equipped in this way, he liked to present his songs from the Frohnauer Hammer, including the most famous Der Stolz von unnerm Arzgebirge .
