Johannes Wahlström (actually: Johann Wahlström ; born September 14, 1981 in Israel ) is an Israeli- Swedish media scientist and journalist and editor of the Swedish cultural magazine Tromb .

Johannes Wahlström was founded in 1981 as the son of Russian - Israeli writer and translator Israel Shamir , of the far-right anti-Semitic Holocaust deniers is assigned scene in Israel was born. Wahlström's journalistic work is controversial in Sweden. In an article for "Ordfront" in 2005, he proposed that the Swedish media were being manipulated by "Jewish interests". Three of the journalists he interviewed for the story immediately complained to the editor, showing that their quotes had been grossly falsified. Heléne Löw, PhD in philosophy and leading Swedish fascism researcher, said the article written by Wahlström contained "all the elements one can find in a classic anti-Semitic conspiracy theory." The complaints were successful. The story was immediately withdrawn, Ordfront apologized. In November 2010, Wahlström and the journalist Dan Josefsson published research on the influential Swedish media group Bonnier in a paper for the Bonnier competition Schibstedt . In 2013 Wahlström was the director and producer of the film "Mediastan" commissioned by Wikileaks

Wikileaks

Wahlström came into contact with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange through friends in 2008 and was involved in the publication of American embassy cables that came to be known as Cablegate . For him, the political content of the leaked information justified its dissemination. According to Wahlström, it would have been “journalistic misconduct” not to publish it. He exposed himself in the media and on websites as a member of Wikileaks . He was the only Swedish journalist with access to all of the material and produced articles and television reports for Swedish newspaper and television media. He criticized the Swedish media for their power-political view of the world.

Newspaper distribution

Johannes Wahlström is the spokesman for the newspaper distribution network Samworks (cooperation), which was founded as a protest against the perceived monopoly of the Tidsam distribution , which sells most weekly and monthly magazines in Sweden and earns high fees.

Wahlström in Israel

Wahlström was arrested by the Israeli military in May 2002 when he broke through a cordon around the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, which was then sealed off as part of an action by the International Solidarity Movement .

He is co-founder of the international-Palestinian news agency IMEMC. As an Israeli citizen, Wahlström was prevented from continuing to work at IMEMC and was denied access to the office. His press card was no longer renewed.
