Johannes von Dorsten

Johannes von Dorsten (* around 1420 in Dorsten ; † January 3, 1481 in Erfurt ; actually Johannes Bauer , also Johannes de Dorsten ) was a German theologian and Augustinian monk .

Life

Johannes von Dorsten enrolled at the University of Cologne in the summer of 1437 . In the summer semester of 1454 he was then at the University of Erfurt , where he was Baccalaureus Artium in autumn 1455 and Magister Artium at Epiphany in 1458 . On May 2, 1459, he entered the Augustinian convent, was in 1461 for ordained priests and closed then his theological studies with the doctorate to Dr. theol. on October 14, 1465. Later he was university professor of the Augustinian Hermits at the University of Erfurt, succeeding Heinrich Ludowicis . In 1464 he was appointed Provincial of the Order of the Augustinian Hermits in Thuringia and Saxony . In this capacity he took part in the General Chapter of Bologna in June 1470 as a member of parliament . In the same year Heinrich Modege replaced him as Provincial, and he was able to pursue his duties as professor again. In 1480 he appeared again as a visitor to the Augustinian monasteries in southern Germany.

He was u. a. theological teacher of Johannes von Paltz (1455–1511).
