John Aloysius Morgan

John Aloysius Morgan (born October 9, 1909 in Melbourne , Australia ; † May 21, 2008 in Canberra , Australia) was a Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Canberra and military bishop of Australia.

Life

John Aloysius Morgan was ordained a priest on July 15, 1934 in Melbourne by Archbishop Daniel Mannix .

On March 6, 1969 he was appointed by Pope Paul VI. Appointed Titular Bishop of Membressa and Auxiliary Bishop in the Archdiocese of Canberra. He received his episcopal ordination from the Archbishop of Sydney , Norman Thomas Cardinal Gilroy , on April 28, 1969; Co- consecrators were Thomas Vincent Cahill , Archbishop of Canberra, and Matthew Beovich , Archbishop of Adelaide . In the same year he was also appointed Military Bishop of the Australian Military Ordinary.

Pope John Paul II granted his age-related resignation on January 5, 1985.
