Geoffrey Francis Mayne

Geoffrey Francis Mayne (born August 27, 1928 in Kensington , † September 14, 2003 ) was an Australian clergyman and military bishop of Australia .

Life

Geoffrey Francis Mayne was ordained a priest on July 21, 1956 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Military Bishop of Australia and Titular Bishop of Mopta on January 2, 1985 . He was ordained episcopal by the Archbishop of Brisbane , Francis Roberts Rush , on February 27 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Edward Bede Clancy , Archbishop of Sydney , and Luigi Barbarito , Apostolic Nuncio in Australia.

On March 7, 1998 he renounced his titular bishop's seat in the course of the new allocation directives of the Roman Curia . On July 16, 2003, John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
