John Berman (born March 21, 1972 in Carlisle , Massachusetts ) is an American television journalist who works for CNN . There he moderates the morning program New Day .

Life

Berman grew up in Carlisle, Massachusetts. He earned a bachelor's degree from Harvard University .

From 1995 he worked at ABC , where he first worked behind the camera as a writer , including for the program World News Tonight With Peter Jennings . It dealt with the presidential campaign of George W. Bush in 1999/2000. Since 2001 he has appeared in front of the camera as a correspondent for various news formats for the station, including Good Morning America , 20/20 and World News with Diane Sawyer . Berman covered the 2008 and 2012 presidential campaigns, the 2004 tsunami and the first Iraq war .

In 2012, Berman moved to CNN to host the show Early Start between 5 and 7 am. He also co-hosted the morning show CNN Newsroom with Poppy Harlow and At This Hour with Kate Bolduan .

Since 2018 he has hosted the morning show New Day together with Alisyn Camerota after his predecessor Chris Cuomo took over an evening show. Berman reports on CNN mainly on political and current topics. He regularly represents Anderson Cooper in the primetime telecast ac 360 .

Berman is married and has two children. The family lives in Westchester , New York .
