John Cameron (composer)

John Cameron (born March 20, 1944 in Woodford, Essex ) is a British composer and conductor . He created several musical works for British cinema in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Including compositions for films like Kes , The Night of a Thousand Eyes , man, you are great! , The Metal Man or Murder in the Mirror .

life and career

John Cameron was born in Woodford, Essex, in 1944. He has been playing the piano since he was six. However, his professional career in music did not begin until the mid-1960s during his time as Vice President of Footlights at Cambridge University , where he was involved in a wide variety of stylistically different musical projects, including appearances in well-known clubs in local jazz -Scene. He soon made a name for himself on the music scene as an accomplished arranger. With his musical arrangements for British artists like Donovan , he and the arranger Spike Heatley made it to the top of the US charts with the title Sunshine Superman .

For Ken Loach's film drama Kissed and Beaten, he arranged and conducted Donovan 's film score in 1967. Since 1969, when he composed the music for the film Kes , John Cameron has also been writing film music himself. Cameron has been composing the music for films such as Porridge Makes Sexy , The Ruling Class , Under Deadly Sun , Scalawag , Cash since the early 1970s , The Unstoppable Career of Private Ass , The Superman of the Wild West , An Unprecedented Affair , James Jr. Strikes , Hot Hell Acapulco , Agents Die Twice , Hawks - The Falcons or Stranded for the thriller - At the mercy of love .
