Career

Although John Christian Rosenlund worked with Super 8 cameras as a child , his first steps in film were in the sound field. At the age of only 15, he founded his first sound studio, which existed from 1979 to 1984. At the same time, Rosenlund acted in various theaters and shows in Stavanger before he was given the opportunity to work as a camera assistant at the state broadcaster Norsk rikskringkasting in 1985 . There he not only worked on live broadcasts, but also had the opportunity to participate in documentaries, so that from 1988 he dared to take the first steps in short films as a self-dependent cameraman. Until he was cameraman for the first time in a feature film in 1998 with the Norwegian drama Schpaaa , Rosenlund stayed with short films. With Tomten är far till alla barnen he shot his first Swedish production the following year.

In parallel to his film work, Rosenlund made about 1,000 to 1,500 commercials in various countries such as Germany , Poland , France , Sweden , Denmark , Belgium and many others. He has also directed some of these spots and is visiting professor at Statens Kunstakademi , a Norwegian university , at irregular intervals .

After Philip Øgaard was the last cameraman to win the Aamot statuette , the highest Norwegian award for filmmakers, in 1990 , John Christian Rosenlund was honored in 2006 for his development work in the field of cameras and for his international reputation.
