John E. Jackson (born February 14, 1885 in Lincoln , † June 17, 1971 in Fairfield ) was an American sports marksman .

successes

John Jackson took part in the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm . In the three-position battle with the army rifle, he did not get beyond 33rd place. In the competition with the army rifle over 600 m in any position, he finished third behind Paul Colas and Carl Osburn and thus won the bronze medal. He secured the gold medal in the team competition with the army rifle. The US team, which in addition to Jackson also included Harry Adams , Allan Briggs , Cornelius Burdette , Carl Osburn and Warren Sprout , finished the competition with 1687 points ahead of the British and Swedish teams and was thus Olympic champion . Jackson was the fourth best shooter on the team with 279 points.

Jackson was a sergeant in the Iowa National Guard at the time of the Olympics .
