John Jenkins (jazz musician)
John Jenkins (* 3. January 1931 in Chicago ; † 12. July 1993 ) was an American alto saxophonist of hard bop .
Jenkins played in Chicago from 1949 to 1956, including with Art Farmer and with his own formations. He came to New York in the spring of 1957, played with Charles Mingus and has since worked as a freelance musician, mainly for Blue Note Records . He recorded numerous records that year, including with Clifford Jordan , Jackie McLean , Teddy Charles , Hank Mobley and Wilbur Ware, as well as under his own name ( Jazz Eyes on Regent ). Then it became quiet around him. In 1990 he was still involved in an album by Clifford Jordan.
