John Kagwe

John Kagwe ( John Karunga Kagwe ; born January 9, 1969 in Nyandarua District ) is a former Kenyan marathon runner .

In 1994 he finished 16th in the Boston Marathon and came third in the Twin Cities Marathon . The following year he won the Pittsburgh Marathon and was fifth in the New York City Marathon , and in 1996 he was sixth in the Lisbon Half Marathon and fourth in New York City.

In 1997 he won the Prague Marathon , finished second in the Philadelphia Half Marathon and won in New York City, and in 1998, after finishing fifth in Boston, he defended his title in New York City. In 1999 he finished fifth in Boston and New York City, and in 2000 sixth in Boston.

His next big success was winning the 2001 Rock 'n' Roll Marathon . He was fifth in the Philadelphia Half Marathon, fourth in the Portugal Half Marathon and seventh in New York City.

He finished seventh in the Chicago Marathon in 2002, ninth in 2003, and seventh in New York City in 2004, and in 2005 he was ninth in the Los Angeles Marathon .
