John Morrill Abbott
John Morrill Abbott (born January 4, 1829 in Lowell , Massachusetts , United States , † July 1, 1868 in Rochester , New York , United States) was an American organist and composer.
Life
John M. Abbott's father was Abiel Abbott, a poet. His sister was Ruth Abbott. From 1839 he went to the Dickinson Classical School in Jersey City. With Ruth he gave a concert on June 29, 1849 at the Iroquois Hall in Jersey City , where she sang and he played the piano himself. Abbott was Secretary of the Musical Association in Jersey City on November 25, 1858 . John M. Abbott was organist at the Pierrepont Street Baptist Church, also known as the Church of our Savior , in Brooklyn from at least 1863 . On June 14, 1868, he was the organist at a concert at Elm Place Congregational Church . He died in 1868 at the age of 39. The cause of death was congestion of the brain indicated .
