John Nicolella
John Joseph Nicolella (born May 28, 1945 - February 21, 1998 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American film director and producer .
Life
Nicolella began his career as an assistant director in the film Gate to Hell (1971), which was directed by Ivan Passer . Other films soon followed, those by director Paul Newman , a. a. The Effect of Gamma Rays on Marigolds (1972), Testament in Lead (1974) with Peter Boyle , Sweet Revenge (1976) with Stockard Channing and Sam Waterston and Time Square (1980). He was also the director of production for such films as Saturday Night Fever (1977) and Curse of the Pink Panther (1983).
In 1984 he joined the Miami Vice production crew and directed a number of episodes until 1987. He continued to work with show star Don Johnson directing the music video for Johnson's song Heartbeat from the album of the same name.
He has also directed a number of television films, most notably Mike Hammer: Murder Takes All and all four of the Vanishing Son films.
John Nicolella died in 1998 at the age of 53.
