John Treloar (sprinter)
John Treloar ( John Francis Treloar; born January 19, 1928 in Lindfield , New South Wales , † July 23, 2012 in Sydney ) was an Australian sprinter .
In 1948 he reached the semi-finals at the Olympic Games in London over 100 m and 200 m . in the 4 x 100 meter relay , he retired with the Australian team in the preliminary run.
At the British Empire Games in Auckland in 1950 , he won over 100 yards , 220 yards and with the Australian 4-by-110-yard relay.
In 1952 he was sixth at the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 10.5 s over 100 m, 0.1 s behind the winner Lindy Remigino . Over 200 m he was injured in the semi-finals.
He was three times Australian champion over 100 yards (1947, 1948, 1950) and 220 yards (1948, 1950, 1952).
John Treloar studied engineering at the University of Sydney and then worked for the family company WJ Treloar and Sons. In 2000 he received the Australian Sports Medal and in 2001 he became a Member of the Order of Australia .
