John Vadakel

John Vadakel CMI (born September 8, 1943 in Beslehem ) is an Indian religious and emeritus Syro-Malabar bishop of Bijnor .

Life

John Vadakel joined the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate , a male Catholic order belonging to the Syro-Malabar Church united with Rome , on May 16, 1964 , and was ordained a priest on December 19, 1975 .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Bishop of Bijnor on August 14, 2009. He received his episcopal ordination on October 22nd of the same year by the old bishop of Bijnor, Gratian Mundadan CMI; Co- consecrators were Albert D'Souza , Archbishop of Agra , and George Punnakottil , Bishop of Kothamangalam .

With the appointment of his successor Vincent Nellaiparambil on August 30, 2019, he entered age-related retirement.
