Joseph Kunnath

Joseph Kunnath CMI (born September 8, 1939 in Kodancherry ) is a Syro-Malabar clergyman and bishop emeritus of Adilabad .

Life

Joseph Kunnath joined the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate , a Catholic male order belonging to the Syro-Malabar Church united with Rome , and was ordained a priest on April 24, 1972 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Adilabad on June 23, 1999. The episcopal ordination donated him the Archbishop of Ernakulam-Angamaly , Varkey Vithayathil CSsR , on October 6th of the same year; Co- consecrators were Abraham Viruthakulangara , Archbishop of Nagpur , and Vijay Anand Nedumpuram CMI, Bishop of Chanda .

On August 6, 2015, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.
