Abraham Viruthakulangara

Abraham Viruthakulangara (born June 5, 1943 in Kallara , Kerala , India , † April 19, 2018 in Delhi ) was an Indian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Nagpur .

Life

Abraham Viruthakulangara studied philosophy and theology in the north Indian Indore and in the St. Charles Seminary in Nagpur as well as at the Sagar University in Sagar . He was ordained a priest on October 28, 1969 . He worked in pastoral care in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on March 4, 1977 Bishop of Khandwa . The Archbishop of Bhopal , Eugene Louis D'Souza MSFS , donated him episcopal ordination on July 13 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Kuriakose Kunnacherry , Bishop of Kottayam , and George Marian Anathil SVD , Bishop of Indore .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Archbishop of Nagpur on January 17, 1998 ; he died in the episcopate.
