Eugene Louis D'Souza

Eugene Louis D'Souza MSFS (born November 15, 1917 in Nagpur , † March 18, 2003 in Bhopal ) was Archbishop of Bhopal .

Life

Eugene Louis D'Souza joined the Order of Missionaries of St. Francis of Sales and was ordained a priest on September 29, 1944 .

Pope Pius XII appointed him on July 12, 1951 Bishop of Nagpur. The Apostolic Internuncio in India , Leo Peter Kierkels CP , consecrated him on October 3rd as bishop ; Co- consecrators were Andrew Alexis D'Souza , Bishop of Poona , and Joseph-Alphonse Baud MSFS, Bishop of Visakhapatnam .

With the elevation to the archbishopric on September 19, 1953 he was appointed archbishop of Nagpur. He attended all the sessions of the Second Vatican Council . Paul VI appointed him on September 13, 1963 Archbishop of Bhopal . On May 20, 1994, John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
