John Walter Yanta
John Walter Yanta (born October 2, 1931 in Runge ) is former bishop of Amarillo .
Life
John Walter Yanta was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of San Antonio on March 17, 1956 .
Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in San Antonio and titular bishop of Naratcata on October 27, 1994 . The Archbishop of San Antonio, Patrick Fernández Flores , donated him episcopal ordination on December 30th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Alfons Nossol , Bishop of Opole , and Charles Victor Grahmann , Bishop of Dallas .
He was named Bishop of Amarillo on January 21, 1997, and was installed in office on March 17 of the same year. On January 3, 2008, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.
