The John Wilson Education Society's Wilson College (Hindi: विल्सन महाविद्यालय), formerly Wilson College, Mumbai and Wilson College, Bombay , is a college in Mumbai (Maharashtra, India). The history of the Protestant educational institution goes back to the colony of British India . The National Assessment and Accreditation Council gave the college the third best rating ("A"). The campus is located in the southwest of the city directly on Girgaon Chowpatty Beach .
history
The Scottish priest, missionary and orientalist John Wilson DD FRS founded the Ambroli English School in Girgaum in 1832 , which was later called the Wilson School . This became the college in 1836. In 1889 the company moved to its current location. The college has been part of the John Wilson Education Society since 1963 .
Buildings
The first (now still used as the main building) building was in 1889 in the style of Gothic Revival ( style Victorian Gothic domestic built), designed by John Adams and is now an urban monument ( Grade III heritage structure ). There is a chapel here. There is also a sports center.

- The library contains 80,000 volumes.
- The university newspaper The Wilsonian appears annually in magazine form. The first edition appeared in Poon in 1909 and was published by Scottish Mission Industries Co. Ltd. produced for the Wilson College Literary Society .
- In 2007 the Indian Postal Administration issued a postage stamp with a face value of 5 rupees, which shows the college building as a motif.
