John Yaw Afoakwa

John Yaw Afoakwa (born January 26, 1955 in Akrokerry , Ashanti Region , Ghana ) is a Ghanaian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Obuasi .

Life

John Yaw Afoakwa received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Kumasi on July 11, 1992 . On March 3, 1995 he was incardinated in the clergy of the newly founded Diocese of Obuasi .

On November 22, 2014, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Obuasi. The Archbishop of Kumasi, Gabriel Justice Yaw Anokye , donated him episcopal ordination on January 10 of the following year . Co- consecrators were the Apostolic Nuncio in Ghana, Archbishop Jean-Marie Speich , and the Archbishop Emeritus of Kumasi, Thomas Kwaku Mensah .
