John Yule (born May 16, 1833 in Grange Parish , Scotland , United Kingdom ; missing since March / April 1888 ) was a California politician.

Yule was elected to the California State Assembly for one year in 1861, 1862, 1865 - and after a longer hiatus in 1884 - in 1863/64 he was a member of the California Senate . He was a member of the Republican Party and the National Union Party for some time in the 1860s . During the 1866 legislature, Yule was Chairman of the Californian House of Commons ( Speaker of the Assembly ).

In the spring of 1888 John Yule disappeared without a trace, he was last seen near Placerville in El Dorado County . Local newspapers suggested that a body found in April 1888 with a bullet hole in the head was Yule's body, but this suspicion could not be confirmed.
