Johnny Firebird is a punk rock / rock 'n' roll band founded in 2010 in Regensburg .

Band members

The band currently (as of 2017) consists of the founding members "Schtifn J. Firebird" (civil Stefan Matejka ; vocals), JDStroy (civil Jürgen Streu ; guitar), Stich (completely Christoph Stich ; guitar), Schek (civil Joachim Radewald ; bass ) and Heinz (completely Heinz Lehmann ; drums). The singer Schtifn used to play in the band The Holy Kings as "Hulk Räckorz" and the four instrumentalists were active in the punk rock formation Use To Abuse , whose singer Harry left the formation. Since both groups split up pretty much at the same time, they quickly found each other.

Singer Schtifn is still working as a drummer for the band Glorious Thieves. He can be heard as a keyboard player on Radio Dead Ones albums and was also represented on the keys on the last tour. Earlier bands were, as already mentioned, The Holy Kings and Rumblebumblebees. There is also a side project called Superpop. The four musicians JDStroy, Stich, Schek and Heinz worked in the band Use To Abuse, which broke up around 2010. JDStroy played in the early years for the German hardcore band Growing Movement , which celebrated success in the 1990s and u. a. was on an extensive European tour with Boston hardcore legend Slapshot and Ignite .

Act

To date, Johnny Firebird has played over 100 concerts a. a. with Turbo Beer , Puking , The Vageenas , Slime , Demented Are Go and many others in Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic. For example, they could be seen at the Nikolaus raus festival in 2012 together with 2nd District, The Suburbs and The Vageenas as well as in Münchner Feierwerk , in 2016 in the Faust cultural center in Hanover as the opening act for Slime, in 2017 in the Munich Backstage , in the Nuremberg Z-Bau as the opening act for Turbo beer, to be seen in the old barracks in Landshut and in the Leipzig 4Rooms.

On their album Finders Keepers, Losers Weepers , the band takes a clear stand against racism and misanthropy in their lyrics. Particularly noteworthy here are the songs "Finders Keepers" or "No More". The album received a lot of feedback in scene magazines.

The band runs its own label Ghost Town Noize with an affiliated booking agency. All productions and recordings are self-directed, i.e. completely do it yourself (DIY). The label is supported by partners such as Oakfield Mastering and the promotion agency Noisolution .
