Johnny Legend
Johnny Legend (born Martin Margulies on October 3, 1948 in San Fernando , California ) is an American rockabilly musician, film producer , film actor and wrestling promoter.
Life
Legend grew up in San Fernando and was friends as a child with the wrestler and actor Tor Johnson , who lived in the immediate vicinity. In 1966 Legends formed his first (folk-rock) band, Seeds of Time . In the early 1970s, Legend started his career as a composer for soft porn and an actor in low-cost productions. With the multi-part SLEAZMANIA series , he released a collection of obscure trailers for B and C movies for Rhino Records . In 1973 Legend discovered rockabilly for himself and founded the group Blue Midnight with the owner of the record label Rollin 'Rock , Ronnie Weiser, Ray Campi and Chuck Higgins . In 1974 Legend formed the band The Rollin 'Rock Rebels with Campi . Here complement Billy Zoom , Colin Winski , Tony Conn and Jim Roup the occupation.
Legend cultivates his crazy image as a rockabilly Rasputin by making his wild stage appearances with a long beard and in wacky costumes such as B. a Confederate uniform denies.
Wrestling
For wrestler Fred Blassie , Legend wrote and sang the song Pencil Neck Geek in 1977 and was involved as a writer and co- director on the Andy Kaufman film My Breakfast with Blassie . Together with Jerry Lawler he hosted a rock and roll wrestling show . With Incredibly Strange Wrestling and Incredible Strange Rock and Roll Wrestling , Legend founded two wrestling leagues of their own.
After a curious feud, Legend defeated in a Man vs. Woman Match Cheryl Russa and won the American Independent Wrestling Alliance World's Women's Championship on January 28, 1995 in Maywood , California (which he still holds).
