Johnston is an American city in Rhode Island in Providence County . It is the (partly main) seat of several insurance companies.
history
Johnston was officially founded on March 6, 1759 and named after General August Johnston.
Attractions
In Johnston is the Clemence Irons House from 1691, a house in the so-called Stone-Ender style, in which the chimney is a wall. The Clemence Irons House is now a museum for this typical Rhode Island design, as it is one of the few that has been preserved in its original state.
education
Johnston has a total of six schools, including four elementary schools, one middle school and one high school (Johnston Senior High School). However, the education department has decided to close two of the primary schools, the Graniteville primary school and the Calef primary school, soon.
