Jonas Mattisseck (born January 16, 2000 in Berlin ) is a German basketball player . He is part of the Bundesliga team Alba Berlin .

career

Mattisseck began his basketball career at club level in the youth of VfL Lichtenrade in Berlin. He later switched to the junior division of TuS Lichterfelde and, in 2016, to Alba Berlin . He strengthened Alba's second men's team in the regional league from the 2016/17 season and continued to play in the youth division.

At the beginning of the 2017/18 season Mattisseck was given a “double license”, which allowed him to play for SSV Lok Bernau in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB in addition to his appearances in the Alba dress . Although initially only intended as a supplementary player in Bernau, Mattisseck advanced there over the course of the season. He also made the leap into Alba's expanded Bundesliga squad. There, the Spanish coach Aíto García Reneses, known as a talent promoter, used him for the first time in the European Cup and the German Cup competition in January 2018. At the end of March 2018, he made his Bundesliga debut. Mattisseck also won the German Junior Championship (U19) with Alba in the same season and was named the best defender and most valuable player in the main round in the NBBL . In the summer of 2019, he first signed up for the National Basketball Association (NBA) draft procedure , but then had his name removed from the list of candidates for the North American league.

In February 2020 he won the German cup competition with Berlin, and at the end of June 2020 he won the German championship with the team. Mattisseck scored an average of 4.8 points per game in the Bundesliga championship year.

National team

Mattisseck took part in the European Championship tournament as a member of the German U16 national team in the summer of 2016. A year later he took part in the U18 European Championship with the U18 national team. In April 2018 he won the Albert Schweitzer tournament as captain with the German U18 national team and was named the best player of the traditional event. At the U18 European Championship in Latvia in the summer of 2018, with 10.3 points and 2.7 assists per game, he was the best scorer and best preparer of the German team, which finished sixth in the tournament.

In February 2019, Mattisseck was appointed to the senior national team for the first time, after having only played 13 Bundesliga games. In July 2019 he took part with the U20 national team in the European Championship for this age group and won bronze. With an average of 12 points per match, he was the second best German scorer in the tournament.
