Jonathan Filewich (born October 2, 1984 in Kelowna , British Columbia ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the KHL Medveščak Zagreb in the Austrian ice hockey league since 2010 .
Career
Jonathan Filewich began his career as a hockey player in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League , where he was active from 2000 to 2005 for the Prince George Cougars and Lethbridge Hurricanes . During this period, he was selected in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft in the third round as a total of 70th player by the Pittsburgh Penguins . In three years in the Pittsburgh franchise he completed five games in the National Hockey League during the 2007/08 season and spent the rest of the time in its farm team from the American Hockey League , the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins . With the farm team, the Filewich failed in the finals of the Calder Cup in 2008 at the Chicago Wolves .
After Filewich had started the 2008/09 season at Wilkes-Barre / Scranton, he was given to the St. Louis Blues on December 19, 2008 in exchange for a six-round vote for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft , but only came to theirs until the end of the season AHL farm team, the Peoria Rivermen , are on duty. For the 2009/10 season, the Canadian signed with EC Red Bull Salzburg from the Austrian ice hockey league before moving to KHL Medveščak Zagreb in 2010 .
International
For Canada Filewich took part in the U18 Junior World Championship in 2002 , where he finished sixth with his team.
