Jonathan Ian Schwartz (born October 20, 1965 ) is an American manager. He was the President and CEO of Sun Microsystems . He is the co-founder and chief executive officer of Care Zone Inc.

Life

Schwartz graduated from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in 1983 in Bethesda , Maryland . After attending Carnegie Mellon University from 1983/1984, he moved to Wesleyan University , where he studied economics and mathematics.

His career began in 1987 with McKinsey & Company in New York City . In 1989 Schwartz left McKinsey and moved to Chevy Chase , Maryland. There he worked for the software company Lighthouse Design Ltd. and moved Lighthouse Design to San Mateo , California in the 1990s . There he became CEO of Lighthouse.

In 1996, Lighthouse was bought by Sun Microsystems. In 1997 Schwartz was appointed Marketing Director for the Sun product JavaSoft 1997. In 2004, Schwartz was promoted to board member and COO of Sun. On April 24, 2006, he took over Scott McNealy's position as CEO. In the course of the financial crisis from 2007 and the loss of customers from the financial sector, the company ran into financial problems. In 2009, the sale to the software and hardware manufacturer Oracle was agreed. On February 4, 2010, Schwartz resigned as CEO. He announced his resignation on Twitter in the form of a haiku .

In September 2009 he announced the founding of the company Picture of Health, which later became CareZone (founded in February 2012).
