Jonathon "Jon" Kalinski (born May 25, 1987 in Bonnyville , Alberta ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Hershey Bears in the American Hockey League since September 2012 .

Career

Jonathon Kalinski began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown with the Bonnyville Pontiacs , for which he was active from 2003 to 2005 in the Alberta Junior Hockey League . The Canadian then played for three years for the Minnesota State University ice hockey team , Mankato . During this time, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2007 in the sixth round as a total of 152 players by the Philadelphia Flyers . Kalinski stayed on the university team for another year and was added to the roster of the Philadelphia Phantoms from the American Hockey League , the Flyers' farm team , towards the end of the 2007-08 season . There he made his professional ice hockey debut and played five more times in the regular season. In the playoffs Kalinski completed ten more games for the Phantoms.

On November 21, 2008 Kalinski was first appointed by the Flyers in their NHL squad and initially completed two games in the National Hockey League . On February 18, 2012, the Flyers transferred him to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for Pavel Kubina, along with a performance-related second-round suffrage in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and a four-round suffrage in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft .
