After qualifying for the final, the season did not get there beyond eighth place. At the European Athletics Cup that year she was third.
In 2009 Tilgner was able to defend her national title over the 400 meter hurdles in Ulm in 55.71 s, although again missing the norm, she was nevertheless called up as an individual starter in the world championship team. However, she lost her place in the 4 x 400 meter relay during the season after weak individual times. In Berlin she stayed well below her potential with 56.73 s, but still reached her goal and advanced to the next round, but showed an even worse performance there with 57.11 s and was eliminated. At the Universiade in the same year she won silver.
In 2010 Tilgner was second at the German Indoor Championships for the third time in a row. In the open air, she came third this year.
Tilgner has been married since summer 2008 and now lives in Linköping (Sweden). Their son was born on April 12, 2011. In November 2011 she started again with high-performance training, but could not qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games in London .
