Jordy Verkiel (born December 23, 1996 in Dordrecht ) is a Dutch ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Tilburg Trappers since 2010 and has played with the club in the German Oberliga Nord since 2015 .

Career

Clubs

Jordy Verkiel began his career in the youth division of the Dordrecht Lions from his hometown. In 2010 he moved to the Tilburg Trappers , in whose second men's team he played as a 14-year-old in the Eerste divisie , the second highest Dutch division. In the 2012/13 season he was used for the first time in the honor division . In 2014 and 2015 he won the Dutch ice hockey cup and the championship with his home club . In 2015 he and Giovanni Vogelaar also received the Bennie-Tijnagel-Trofee as the best Dutch young player. After these successes, he moved to the German Oberliga Nord with the Trappers and won the German Oberliga Championships in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

International

For the Netherlands, Verkiel took part in the Division II games of the U18 World Championships in 2013 and 2014 and the U20 World Championships in 2013 , 2014 , 2015 and 2016 when he was voted the best player on his team.

With the Dutch men's national team , he took part in the World Cup of Division II 2018 for the first time, when he scored the 6-0 goal in the 9-2 victory against the eventual second Australia, which was decisive for promotion to Division I.
