Jorge Vivas

Jorge Luis Vivas Palacios (* 22. January 1988 in Apartadó ) is a Colombian amateur boxer in the middleweight division .

Life

Vivas is the youngest son of Carlina Palacios Mosquera, who, according to him, is still his greatest inspiration today. He lives in Carepa and is the father of two children. He trained soccer as a child, then tried his hand at athletics and ended up boxing at the age of 14. Shortly thereafter, he won his first boxing match with a knockout , which encouraged him to continue in this sport.

At the Departmental Championships in October 2004, he won a silver medal in the lightweight class and in 2005 became a sparring partner for the departmental selection. He won his first gold medal at the Departmental Championships in 2006.

Vivas won the Bolivarian Middleweight Games in 2013, finished second at the South American Games in 2014 and finished fifth at the 22nd Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz in 2014.

He won a silver medal at the 2015 Pan American Games . In March 2016 he qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics , where he lost 2-1 to Wilfried Ntsengue from Cameroon in the first round and was eliminated.

He took part in the Pan American Boxing Championships in 2017 and qualified for the 2017 World Championships in Hamburg .
