José André Coimbra

José André Coimbra (born November 10, 1900 in Carbonita , Minas Gerais , Brazil , † August 16, 1968 in Araxá ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Patos de Minas .

Life

José André Coimbra received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Diamantina on July 13, 1924 .

On February 26, 1938, Pope Pius XI appointed him . to the Bishop of Barra do Piraí . The Archbishop of Diamantina, Serafim Gomes Jardim da Silva , donated his episcopal ordination on July 24th of the same year. Co- consecrators were the coadjutor bishop of Montes Claros , Aristides de Araújo Porto , and the bishop of Cajazeiras , João da Matha de Andrade e Amaral .

On June 8, 1955, Pope Pius XII appointed him . the first bishop of the newly established diocese of Patos de Minas . The inauguration took place on October 30 of the same year.

He attended the first, second and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.
