Jorge Scarso

Jorge Scarso OFMCap (born August 13, 1916 in Modica , Italy ; † October 28, 2015 ibid) was an Italian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Patos de Minas in Brazil .

Life

Scarso joined the order of the Capuchins and was ordained a priest on June 28, 1942 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on November 29, 1967 titular bishop of Gemellae in Numidia and auxiliary bishop in Patos de Minas . The Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil, Archbishop Sebastiano Baggio , donated him episcopal ordination on March 25 of the next year ; Co- consecrators were José Maria Pires , Archbishop of Paraíba , and José André Coimbra , Bishop of Patos de Minas. After the death of José André Coimbra on August 16, 1968, he was appointed his successor as Bishop of Patos de Minas on December 28, 1968.

On January 8, 1992, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation. He died on October 28, 2015 after previously hospitalized in Módica with respiratory problems.
