José Cantón Landazuri (born March 23, 1937 in Basauri , † November 13, 2013 in San Fernando ) was a Spanish football player .

Athletic career

Cantón began his career with CD Baskonia in the Tercera División , in 1957 he rose with the club in the Segunda División . A year later he moved within the league to Racing Santander , but the striker was denied a breakthrough in the founding member of the Primera División and long-time first division club . Therefore, after two seasons, despite the second division championship and the associated return to the Spanish upper house, he left the club and joined the second division CD San Fernando . Here he was a regular goalscorer, but in 1964 he was relegated to the third division. This was followed by short-term engagements of one year at the third division FC Reus , Gimnàstic de Tarragona and the second division FC Cádiz , before coming back to the CD San Fernando in 1967.

Cantón later worked as a trainer in the regional area. He coached Hércules San Fernando , FC Puerto Real , FC Atlético Sanluqueño and Racing Club Portuense .

Cantón died in November 2013 at the age of 76.
