José Clarin

José A. Clarin (* 1879 in Tagbilaran , Bohol ; † 1935 ) was a Filipino politician .

biography

After attending school, he studied at the College of Cebu and then law at the Escuela de Derecho . He completed this course in 1904 with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.). He then worked as a lawyer .

He began his political career with the election as a member of the Philippine Assembly ( Philippine Assembly ) before he was elected in 1916 to the Senate , which was newly created by the Philippine Autonomy Act (Jones Law) . In this he represented until his unexpected death in 1935 the then 11th electoral district (Eleventh Senatorial District), which included the provinces of Surigao , Misamis Oriental , Misamis Occidental and Bohol. Most recently he was Senate President Pro tempore from 1934 to 1935 and thus representative of Manuel Quezon during his illness and absence.

Most recently, as a representative of the 2nd electoral district of Bohol, he was also a member of the Constitutional Convention in 1934 and was a member of the Committee on Financing.
