Active career
The goalkeeper started his career at UD Alzira . Via Alzira, he moved to Villarreal , his first professional club. After a brief appearance at FC Valencia B , Molina went to Albacete Balompié . From 1995 to 2000 the Iberian played for his dream club Atlético Madrid . He helped him to the Spanish championship in 1996 . He missed only 2 of the 158 possible games in his first four seasons. From the 2000/01 season , Molina played at Deportivo La Coruña . In the 2003/04 season , the goalkeeper was diagnosed with testicular cancer, but he has overcome it. He played the 2006/07 season at UD Levante , where his contract was not renewed, after which he ended his career as a player.
Curiously, Molina played his first international match for Spain against Norway (0-0) not as a goalkeeper, but as a striker , as coach Javier Clemente had run out of strikers. Molina took part in the 1996 European Championship and the 1998 World Cup without being used . At the EM 2000 he played only the first game against Norway (0: 1), where he made a decisive blunder when conceding a goal. After that he never played for the national team again. Molina played a total of nine times for the Spanish national team.
Coaching career
On December 22, 2011 it was announced that Molina will take over as coach of Villarreal CF after predecessor Juan Carlos Garrido was knocked out against a third division club in the Copa del Rey and in the Champions League group stage. In March 2012 Molina was given leave of absence due to unsuccessfulness.
