José Lafayette Ferreira Álvares (born November 30, 1903 in Conceição do Rio Verde , Alagoas , Brazil , † March 7, 1997 ) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and bishop of Bragança Paulista .

Life

José Lafayette Ferreira Álvares was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of São Paulo on August 15, 1934 .

On July 26, 1965, Pope Paul VI appointed him . the titular bishop of Carcabia and auxiliary bishop in the archdiocese of São Paulo. He received his episcopal ordination on September 5th of the same year by the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of São Paulo, Cardinal Agnelo Rossi . Co- consecrators were Auxiliary Bishop Gabriel Paulino Bueno Couto OCarm from São Paulo and the Bishop of Mogi das Cruzes , Paulo Rolim Loureiro .

On February 1, 1971, he was appointed Bishop of Bragança Paulista , and on March 7 of the same year he was introduced to the office.

On November 10, 1976, Pope Paul VI. his early resignation.
