José Manuel Rey Cortegoso (born May 20, 1975 in Caracas ) is a former Venezuelan football player who was most recently under contract with Club Deportivo Lara and with 78 to 115 games from February 2007 to June 2013 was the record player for the Venezuelan national football team , for which he was eleven Goals scored.
His nicknames include Tetero , Gallego and Autobus .
Career

Fans hoped they could see such beautiful free-kick goals from Rey in the long run, but Caracas FC did not sell him after the loan period ended. He thought again whether he should play the rest of his career in Europe , as many Venezuelan players have become champions abroad. B. Rafael Dudamel , Giancarlo Maldonado and Juan Arango , but he decided against it and wants to end his career in Venezuela .
National team
He made his international debut on June 8, 1997 in a 1-1 draw against Bolivia to qualify for the 1998 World Cup . On October 13, 2007, he became a national hero with a spectacular free-kick goal from 45 meters away in the 1-0 win against Ecuador in qualifying for the 2010 World Cup . It was Ecuador's first loss in Quito in six years.
On September 5, 2009, he scored another free-kick goal in an exciting 2-2 draw against Chile . Although he was no longer used in the national team for more than a year, he was still appointed to the squad for the 2011 Copa America . In the first games he was not used. He was only substituted on in the second half of the semi-finals against Paraguay . Since neither team scored a goal in 120 minutes, the penalty shoot-out had to decide whether to reach the final. This was the very first penalty shoot-out for the Venezuelan national team. Rey was able to convert as second shooter, as Franklin missed Lucena , lost Venezuela 3: 5 and met Peru in the game for third place . He was also reinstated in the 4-1 defeat against Peru. But fourth place is the best so far in the Copa.
