José Pierson

José Eduardo Pierson (born April 13, 1861 at the Hacienda El Molino, † 1957 in Mexico City ) was a Mexican music teacher .

Life

José Eduardo Pierson, who came from a wealthy family, first studied at Ramsgate College in England and then at Santa Clara University in California . He then took singing lessons from Enrico Testa in Mexico and from Vittorio de Vidal in Milan . After his return to Mexico, he taught singing at his own music academy .

In 1914 he founded the Compañía Impulsora de Ópera , and he also worked as a musical advisor and director in the performance of operas , operettas and zarzuelas at several opera houses in Mexico City. His numerous students included Alfonso Ortiz Tirado , Juan Arvizu , José Mojica , Pedro Vargas , Jorge Negrete , Hugo Avendaño and Mercedes Caraza .
