José Sótero Valero Ruz

José Sótero Valero Ruz (born April 22, 1936 in Timotes , Mérida , Venezuela ; † June 29, 2012 ) was the Roman Catholic Bishop of Guanare .

Life

José Sótero Valero Ruz was ordained a priest on May 16, 1964 . In 1986 he was appointed chaplain to His Holiness by Pope John Paul II . He was a long-time professor and director of the Valencia seminary . He was director of evangelization and catechesis from 1988 until today.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Titular Bishop of Alba and Auxiliary Bishop in the Archdiocese of Valencia en Venezuela on May 9, 1998 . He was ordained episcopal on June 27th of the same year by the Archbishop of Valencia en Venezuela , Jorge Liberato Urosa Savino ; Co- consecrators were Diego Rafael Padrón Sánchez , Bishop of Maturín , and Pedro Nicolás Bermúdez Villamizar CIM , Auxiliary Bishop in Caracas, Santiago de Venezuela .

On March 19, 2001, John Paul II appointed him bishop of the Guanare diocese . Pope Benedict XVI accepted on October 12, 2011 the resignation submitted by José Sótero Valero Ruz for reasons of age.
