José Tomas Gomes da Silva (born August 4, 1873 in Martins , Rio Grande do Norte , Brazil , † October 31, 1948 ) was Bishop of Aracaju .

Life

Jose Tomas Gomes da Silva received on 15 November 1896, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On May 12, 1911, Pope Pius X appointed him the first bishop of Aracaju. The Bishop of Paraíba , Adauctus Aurélio de Miranda Henriques , donated him episcopal ordination on November 19 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Floresta , Augusto Álvaro da Silva , and the Bishop of Natal , Joaquim Antônio de Almeida . The inauguration took place on December 4, 1911.
