José da Silva Chaves

José da Silva Chaves (born May 15, 1930 in São Domingos ) is a Brazilian clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic bishop of Uruaçu .

Life

José da Silva Chaves was ordained a priest for the diocese of Uruaçu on December 8, 1955 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on November 29, 1967 auxiliary bishop in Uruaçu and titular bishop of Rusubbicari . The Archbishop of Goiânia , Fernando Gomes dos Santos , donated him episcopal ordination on February 11 of the next year ; Co- consecrators were José Newton de Almeida Baptista , Archbishop of Brasília and Military Vicar of Brazil , and Francisco Prada Carrera CMF , Bishop of Uruaçu.

On May 14, 1976 he was appointed Bishop of Uruaçu. On January 3, 2007, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related resignation.
