The diocese Uruaçu ( lat. : Dioecesis Uruassuensis ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese based in Uruaçu in the state of Goiás .

history

The diocese of Uruaçu was on March 26, 1956 by Pope Pius XII. built from cessions of territory by the Archdiocese of Goiás and the territorial prelature of São José do Alto Tocantins . On October 11, 1966, the Diocese of Uruaçu gave up parts of its territory to establish the Territorial Prelature Rubiataba . Another assignment of territory took place on March 29, 1989 to establish the Diocese of Luziânia .

The diocese of Uruaçu is subordinate to the Archdiocese of Brasília as a suffragan .
