José dos Santos Marcos (born August 17, 1949 in Monte Perobolço , Portugal ) is a Portuguese clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Beja .

Life

José dos Santos Marcos received the sacrament of ordination for the Patriarchate of Lisbon on June 23, 1974 . After working in pastoral care, he became spiritual in the diocesan seminary Cristo Rei of the Patriarchate of Lisbon in 1995 and also spiritual in the Redemptoris Mater seminary in 2001 .

On 10 October 2014 it appointed Pope Francis to Coadjutor Bishop of Beja . The Patriarch of Lisbon, Manuel Clemente , donated him episcopal ordination on November 23rd of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Beja, António Vitalino Fernandes Dantas OCarm , and the Archbishop of Évora , José Francisco Sanches Alves .

With the resignation of António Vitalino Fernandes Dantas on November 3, 2016, he succeeded him as Bishop of Beja.
