António Vitalino Fernandes Dantas OCarm (born November 3, 1941 in Barros , Portugal ) is a Portuguese religious and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Beja .

Life

António Vitalino Fernandes Dantas joined the Congregation of the Carmelites at and received on August 3, 1968, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On 3 July 1996 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To the titular of Tlos and ordered him to auxiliary bishop in Lisbon . The Patriarch of Lisbon, António Cardinal Ribeiro , donated him episcopal ordination on September 29 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Braga , Eurico Dias Nogueira , and the Bishop of Coimbra , João Alves . On January 25, 1999, John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Beja.

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on November 3, 2016.
