Josef Albert Amann junior

Josef Albert Amann, Jr. (born July 1, 1866 in Munich , † October 17, 1919 in Konstanz ) was a German gynecologist and the son of Josef Albert Amann , the first gynecologist to give lectures in this field at the University of Munich.

Life

Josef Albert Amann studied in his hometown under the anatomist Karl Wilhelm von Chuffer , the pathologist Otto Ballinger and the gynecologist and obstetrician Franz von Winkle . After his license to practice medicine in 1889, he went to Berlin , where he also worked with Carl Ruge in the field of microscopy . He then worked for six years at the Munich University Women's Clinic. His habilitation took place in 1892 and he followed his father as head of the gynecological department of the General Hospital in Munich. In 1905 he became an associate professor and the following year he was given an extraordinary professorship for gynecology and obstetrics. Despite the difficult working conditions, Amann was one of the best German operating gynecologists of his time.
