Josef Dolch (born March 11, 1899 in Munich , † May 23, 1971 in Saarbrücken ) was a professor of education at the Universities of Munich and Saarbrücken.

Origin and family

Josef Dolch's father was the senior teacher Michael Dolch. His mother was a natural choice. Joseph was baptized a Catholic. In 1929 he married Magdalena, b. Schnitzler, with whom he had two children.

In 1923 Josef Dolch received his doctorate from the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Munich with a doctoral thesis on the subject of "The Concept of Parental Rights in Upbringing". phil. For his doctoral thesis he received the prize of the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Munich . His dissertation was published in 1928 as "Crowned Prize Writ".

career

Josef Dolch initially worked at the teacher training college in Munich-Pasing. In 1936 it was renamed the University for Teacher Training , Munich, and in 1941 the State Institute for Agricultural Education and Vocational Education Institute Munich.

From 1942 he taught as a private lecturer and from 1952 as an adjunct professor at the University of Munich. There he trained vocational school teachers.

Together with Wilhelm Flitner , Fritz Blättner, Otto Friedrich Bollnow and Erich Less, Josef Dolch founded the magazine for pedagogy in 1955 .

In 1956, Josef Dolch was appointed full professor of education at the University of Saarbrücken , where he was director of the educational institute.

Josef Dolch was a board member of the German Society for Educational Science and head of the Pedagogical Section of the Görres Society.
