Josef Endres

Josef Endres (born April 19, 1927 in Mayen , † December 11, 1998 in Trier ) was a German trade unionist and politician ( SPD ). From 1974 to 1975 he was a member of the state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate .

Life

Endres attended elementary schools in Mayen and Cologne from 1933 to 1941 and continued his school career until 1944 at a municipal trade school in Cologne. From 1944 to 1945 he did Reich labor and military service, was most recently taken prisoner by the US and was later a French prisoner of war . In October 1948 he was released from captivity. He then earned his living as a construction worker and retrained to become a plasterer. In 1950 he got a job at the IG Bau-Steine-Erden in Mayen and in 1958 he became legal secretary of the DGB in Trier. From 1961 he was executive chairman of the DGB for the Trier administrative district.

Endres joined the SPD in 1951 and was later elected to the board of the SPD sub-district of Trier. In addition, he was deputy chairman of the city association, subdistrict chairman and member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state board of the working group for employee issues (AfA). From 1955 to 1959 he was a member of the city council of Mayen and from 1960 to 1989 a member of the city council of Trier. In the Trier city council, he served as chairman of the SPD parliamentary group from 1974 to 1979.

He was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament from June 18, 1974, when he replaced the deceased MP Peter Paul Jost , until the end of the 1975 legislative period. In the state parliament he was a member of the SPD parliamentary group executive committee and the budget and finance committee.

In addition to his political and trade union activities, Endres was a long-time member of the self-governing bodies of the statutory health insurance at district, state and federal level. From 1984 to 1994 he was a member of the Chamber of Crafts General Assembly in the Trier district and from 1974 to 1989 a member of the board of directors of the Trier Foundation for United Hospices . He was also a member of the board of trustees of the Trier-Kaiserslautern dual university.
